GYPSY CARAVAN. A mass of swaying hips, undulating bellies, hands upon hands upon hands with arms moving snake-like, strangely synchronous; watch closely as these powerfully sensuous women wrap you in their web of enchanting improvisation. Haunting horns calling you from the desert, earthly drums bring you back to the beginning of time; forlorn melodies sung from the deepest of souls, Gypsy Caravan invites you to join them on a journey back to the cradle of civilization. Woolen yarns, billowing silk, and jangling metal add texture to delight the senses, reminding you of the millions of women who came before us. A tribute to the past, created in the present, borrowing from many cultures and full of today's urban spirit, feel your tribal soul coming to life, echoing our cries for life and freedom. How the chorus compliments the soloist, and using smooth transitions within formation changes from group to duet to soloist. This is for Intermediate to Advanced Tribal dancers, please.

SHARMINI THARMARATNAM BIO: Sharmini Tharmaratnam is a sri-lankan dutch dancer who studied in New Delhi, India, Kathak dance of "Jaipur gharana" under the guidance of Pandit Rajendra Gangani. Since 15 years she is putting the fusion of Spain-India on stage, composes music and choreographs which are valuable in both worlds; the Orient and the Occident, the traditional and the modern. Practice came into theory in the form of the book “El Flamenco made in India”. After studying Bharata Natyam, contemporary dance and jazz, it is flamenco and Kathak which have marked her most. Completed her studies at the Faculty of Arts, she will not forget the visual aspect of stage presentation and concepts.

Saturday 2 10:30 - 13:00h: S1 Spins, spins, spins!: Fast spins, slow, on the axis, with hands, with arms, in rhythm, sensual, shifting, static spins... (Please do not eat much right before this workshop!!) All levels

Saturday 2 18:00 - 20:30h: S2 How to memorize a dance. You may have attended a workshop or course, learnt a choreography or dance, and then the next day you just can't remember anything. How can we work on our dance memory, our body memory? Through verbalisation of movements (vocal rhythm) and through the search of dance symbolism we can improve our memorisation of the dance. We will use khatak technique. All levels

Sunday 3 15:00 - 17:30h: S3 Slow Dance. Dancing slow is probably much more difficult than fast. First we will concentrate on the weight, the touch of the feet on the floor and we will learn different ways of shifting in khatak. Secondly we will focus on the breathing and how it becomes part of the movement, and then we play with rhythms over a slow support. Thirdly we focus on the face, it expresses emotions and it must be relaxed and into "its roll" to be able to transmit. We concentrate on "what we want to say". Intermediate-Advanced

Sunday 3 18:00 - 20:30h: S4 To be Confirmed soon.

ROCIO R. MORRISON, ACROYOGA BCN. BIO: Ever since she knew yoga she has dedicated intensely to the practice, inspired and accompanied by diverse professors of the United States and Spain. In the last years she is sharing yoga by teaching. Her yoga practice has different influences, as hatha, vinyasa, flow, anusara, restorative... and her classes seek for the balance between activity and relaxation, strength and flexibility, giving preference to concentration, conscious breathing and presence. She has completed the Acroyoga Teacher Training  in California of the hand of its founders. Previously Rocio did a Teacher Training  in Yoga Studio Barcelona. Sunday 3 10:30-13:00h: A1 Acroyoga-Partner Yoga : This is a beautiful way to share our practice of yoga with one, two... or all the group, always looking for the balance between the connection with ourselves and with others. The asanas flow in sequences, sharing from a subtle contact, to the use of the support, weight or counterbalance, helping us to deepen our practice. At the same time we open our hearts to the confidence, listening, and the acceptance of us and the others.

Sunday 3 18:00-20:30h: A2 Yoga for dancers: Hatha yoga stretches, strengthens, relaxes, tones, nourishes and improves our body physical condition. Besides it equilibrates the energy in our body and develops a state of mental calm and emotional stability. In her classes, Rocio looks for the balance between the development of strenghth and flexibility, activity and relaxation, dynamism and alignment, giving much importance to concentration, conscious breathing and presence. Yoga is ideal as formation and complement for dancers or dance students as well as for other people with a high physical activity; this workshop is focused on those people and its specific needs.
